Hi Year 10,

Welcome to my blog! Here is the essay breakdown we worked on in class – as promised!

Freedom Writers

Here it is… for success you need to explain, explore and use specific examples.

You need to put the film and characters in context. If the marker has never seen Aliens before they should have an idea of the genre, general plot and the who the main characters are and how they fit into the story. They should also be able to picture specific examples that back up the points you are making.

Aliens essay planning

Hello Year 12,

If you have lost your paperwork, got yourself in a pickle, been irresponsible or need a blank sheet to work from – this is the last stop!

If you’ve made a mistake and feel like you could do better next time in terms of keeping your paperwork in order, use this as a learning opportunity. Half the battle in life is just making sure you’re on top of things. This is by no means everything we’ve done this year, but at least it’s a starting point. Click on the links below to open the documents.

Good luck.

It’s up to you to not get yourself or me in trouble! If you have any suggestions of other films, novels or short stories you think others in the class could read or view, please send them through and I will add them to this post. Also, if you want to check if a text is appropriate flick me an email or comment on here and I will let you know. My school email address is mnd@pakuranga.school.nz.

Hi guys,

I have added the information regarding website readings for wide reading logs below. Make sure you read several posts (3 if long, 5 if shorter posts) on your website and take any notes that you will need in order to respond to them appropriately, including at least 2 quotes. You will also need to make a note of the URL, name of the blog, title of the individual postings and the name of the author.

Blogs

Blog posts are short, so you should read a
range of posts as you would a poetry collection
